Today, in 2008, over 50% of the single mothers in the United States of America live below the poverty line.
This is a tragedy of epic proportions.
It is a phenomenal tragedy beyond the scope of anything this nation has ever seen.
Without decent nutrition, their children cannot get the educations they need to:
1.) Make decent voting decisions which are well-informed on our issues.
2.) Become healthy, creative, contributing members of society.
3.) Help the USA grow into the potential it can be. The tech revolution has passed, but the green revolution is coming!
Additionally, women, are still not the Chairwomen of the Board, in large measure, in any industry I can think of -- banking, film, tech, pharmaceuticals, hospitals -- these women cannot even make a decent living, let alone thrive and rise through the glass ceiling. These women and children cannot get decent medical care, dental care, live in decent housing and have warm clothes and blankets for their children.
You can help.
Help your families, your wives, your daughters, your mothers, your sisters. Help the old woman who lives down the street who can't get her own groceries. Become a part of your community and see what you can do to help children eat, get to the doctor, and receive the educations they deserve.
The educational system in this country is right now in desperate need of an upgrade. But, these children cannot participate if there is no food in their bellies, if there are no vitamins and minerals traveling to their brains to sustain their normal growth.
Care.
Care enough to give up one night out to dinner.
Care enough to have one less piece of jewelry.
What you give, you receive tenfold.
Love is a verb.
